Atlas Sensor Technologies manufactures and sells easy-to-use, cost-effective sensors for monitoring water quality. Atlas’ suite of sensors allows real-time detection of water quality, improves the reliability of water treatment equipment, and reduces negative impacts from waste.
Atlas' first product, the CatSen1, was an IoT sensor for detection hard water ions in fluid stream. In 2026, the Company released a successor product, the CatSen2, to include an expanded feature set including front panel display and fluid flow sensor. The Company aspires to change the paradigm of salt-regenerated water softening by introducing a new method for determining when a softener needs to be regenerated.
Since its inception, Atlas has researched and advanced the use of ion exchange based water sensors. The issued patents (US 9,778,299 and foreign patents) and pending patents disclose a method and apparatus for using electrical resistance in a continuous ion exchange material as a proxy for water hardness. The Atlas technology has a broader applicability than just sensing hardness and working in tandem with the Danforth Plant Science Center, the Company has demonstrated real time nitrogen sensing for plant nutrient and effluent management.
